Hi and welcome to 365 Laptop Repair. This is a tutorial on how to do a Toshiba C55DT screen replacement and digitizer (touch screen) replacement repair. The exact model number for the laptop is C55DT-A5307, however this tutorial should work for any C55DT model. There are a few things you are going to need to complete this repair. In this tutorial we will be using tweezers, a prying tool, a philips head screwdriver, and optionally a power philips screwdriver. You will also need a replacement LCD screen and/or digitizer for your laptop.
You will have to remove the LCD screen assembly from the rest of the laptop in order to do this repair. Check out our teardown video below on how to do so!

Tools Needed: Phillips head screwdriver (optional – power screwdriver), Tweezers, Prying tool
Removing the old screen
First you have to remove two screws from the bottom of the digitizer (circled in green below). The digitizer is held in by clips on the inside and some adhesive along the bottom. Insert your prying tool into the top of the screen between the bezel and the case as shown in the picture below. Be careful to not crack the digitizer if you are just replacing the LCD screen. Also be careful of the digitizer cable that connects at the top left of the screen. Disconnect the 2 ribbon cable connectors when you have removed enough of the digitizer off to access it.
Work your way around the digitizer disconnecting it and separate the adhesive when you get to the bottom. The hinges are covered by plastic from the digitizer so use your prying tool to free them.

Disconnect the digitizer ribbon cable connectors
Once the bezel is removed, there are 4 screws (at arrows in blue in picture below) that hold in the screen that need to be taken out. When the screws have been removed, gently lift up the LCD screen to separate a little bit from the case. Don’t remove it entirely because there is a cable connected to the back.
Screen screw location
Gently lay the LCD face down. On the back at the bottom you will find a gold connector attached to the screen. Loosen the tape covering the connector and disconnect it. Set your old LCD screen aside and get out your new LCD screen.

Installing your new LCD screen / Digitizer
With your new screens face down, reconnect the gold connector and replace the tape covering it. Then put the screen back into its place making sure it is fitting correctly. Next replace the 4 screws that hold in the screen. Then retrieve your old/new digitizer and reconnect it both ribbon cables to the top connectors. Finally, run your hands along the edges of the screen, snapping the bezel back into place as you go. Make sure the plastic covering the hinges is situated and attached correctly.
Now you can re-attach the LCD screen assembly to the rest of the the laptop. Check out our teardown linked at the top of the post for how to do so.
